      Working with Pleasanton Computer Repair was great! I took my work laptop in with a partially cracked screen. Roughly 1/2 of the screen was still visible/useable when I dropped it off. The replacement screen seems to work perfectly.

    Karla, Gabe, and Ryan were all friendly, professional, and provided 5-star service. Once they had the replacement screen in stock*, I feel like they made a great effort to keep their turnaround time as fast as possible and I only had to take a couple hours off work while they did the repairs (dropped off at 5PM Tues, picked up at 9:30AM the next day). Lastly, I find the online ticket system they use clean and helpful. If I have computer issues in the future, this shop will be my go-to.

    *Note: This is NOT a complaint, but I do see one (1) small opportunity for improvement in hindsight: I wish they had made more of an effort to confirm beforehand what model of replacement screen was needed for my laptop so they could check if they had the replacement screen in stock. During the quote process and before I dropped the laptop off the first time, I was advised that they would have to physically take the laptop apart to confirm what model of replacement screen was needed and therefore confirm if they had the replacement part in-stock or would need to order it. "Ok, no biggie. If that's how it is, that's how it is," I thought. However, after dropping it off, I was advised that since the laptop screen was not fully cracked through, they could confirm the screen model without taking it apart by logging into the laptop to confirm the resolution info.

    I gave them my login info, they checked, and it turned out that they didn't have the required replacement screen in stock and had to order it. This wasn't a big deal, but required me to make a couple extra trips to their shop (extra drop off, extra pick-up) so I could use my laptop while the replacement part was on order. I feel like the two extra trips could have been avoided by asking me to log in from home and confirm the resolution info they needed in advance. With presumably varying degrees of tech-savviness among their customers, it may be they don't normally ask us to do that kind of stuff, but saving the extra trips would have been a nice touch. Again, this isn't a complaint or even enough to knock this down to a 4-star review, just some possible room for improvement, in my opinion.

  •   Great service. My 7-year-old laptop finally kicked the bucket for good after many near-death experiences. I decided to get a new laptop but save the old hard drive. I asked Pleasanton Computer Repair if they could first check the hard drive to make sure there were no physical/electrical issues and the data was uncorrupted, and if the hard drive was fine, just move it into an external case for me. If the data was corrupted, I requested that they attempt to recover it. Brought the laptop in, got an email 2 days later that it was ready to pick up. Data was fine, hard drive was in an external case, brought it home & plugged it into my new computer and it worked just fine. Very reasonable price, did not try to add unnecessary charges, friendly, fast, and effective. Highly recommended.

    SUMMARY: fast, affordable, effective, honest. Great repair shop.

      Karla is the best. Very professional and provided the best advice for me and my Mac, even though that meant sending me to the Apple store.

    Will certainly use them for any issues in the future. It's difficult to find trustworthy businesses these days. Thanks Pleasanton Computer Repair!!

  •   I'm so glad I found Pleasanton Computer Repair! After having my laptop crash due to inept online tech support by a big name office supply chain, was told they'd have to ship out my laptop, with a huge prepayment and 4-6 week turn around.  Um, no thanks!  Pleasanton Computer Repair took in my laptop that same day, and for less money than the other company wanted up front without even determining what they could do for me, PCR not only restored all my data (YAY!) but replaced the original (cheap) hard drive, significantly increasing performance speed, and installed a new OS. Best of all, I had my laptop back within 2 1/2 days.  Needless to say, I'm super happy, and will use PCR for future laptop repairs!

      Withdrawing my very positive review of Dec 5.  HP computer was hacked again in a few days.  Whatever they did it did not protect in the future days.  Had it repaired by a private party who installed protection software and has not been hacked in 3 weeks

  •   I had a dead laptop, and Pleasanton Computer Repair's proximity and his reviews helped me choose them for help. The quotes up front were simple, and they were pleasant and professional to deal with. For Covid safety, they require appointments to ensure one customer at a time. The one drawback was that they could not identify the problem with the tools available there and would need to send it to a lab in San Jose at additional cost. The tech was able to assure me the hard drive was not damaged, however, so I was able to transfer files myself by moving the drive to a case and connecting it as an external drive.

      I had my laptop die on me, and I was able to drop it off and and it fixed quickly and picked up two days later. Affordable prices, and great work with fast and easy communication. I highly recommend!
